This 11" square mosaic is a close-up study from my photo. It is executed in glass smalti tile, which is an ancient Italian mosaic medium. Each glass piece is precisely hand cut using a hammer and hardie -- traditional Italian mosaic tools. I call the style of this piece "painting with glass".
